Astley & Tyldesley Miners' Welfare / CTA Direct Cycle Speedway team
travelled to Stoke for the final Midlands / North Regional Round of the Cusack
British Youth & Junior League on Saturday.
Although unable to finish in the top two league positions to qualify for the
three National Rounds, A & T were looking for a good performance to finish
high up in the Regional League table. A & T's four riders put in a good
performance to finish 2nd on the day, out of 7 teams, which meant that the team
finished 3rd in the league, out of 9 teams.
John Nuttall finished 2nd in each race in the U-10 match, to put A & T
off to a good start. Becky Heslop scored three second places in the U-12
category to keep A & T's challenge going. Chris Heslop weighed in with 8
points in the U-14 category, before Damien Hack finished off with a 16 points
maximum score in the U-18 category.
