Sun 10th Aug Northern Fours & Junior League
Round 6
Scotia

Astley & Tyldesley made the long trip to Edinburgh for the 6th Round of the Northern Fours and Junior League series. On a well watered track that stood up well to a weekend's racing in very hot weather, A & T recorded their second successive win in the Fours League. A & T got off to a bad start with a gate exclusion to new captain Przemek Binkowski in the first race, and Heckmondwike took a 7-2 heat win. With Stockport again short handed, the battle for the win was between A & T and Heckmondwike. Heckmondwike led by 7 points at the half way stage, but James Carter was forced to borrow bikes after snapping his handlebars in his second race. A & T started to claw back the Yorkshire team's lead, and with Stockport taking two heat wins over the Tykes, A & T kept the pressure on to win the match by just 2 points. Pawel Kozlowski raced unbeaten for A & T, with Binkowski winning his last three races, as the team showed good discipline in salvaging a win from an unpromising situation.
