On a big, fast, well prepared track, an entertaining match took place, with plenty of good racing. However, it was the Aces, who are virtually unbeatable on their Ashmore Park track, who took the spoils, with a convincing 105-74 win. A & T's European Champion Damian Zareba was in great form, losing only to British Champion Lee Aris in heat 3, but gaining his revenge in the last heat. A & T's European Junior Champion Remi Burchardt also turned in an impressive performance, winning three races, and losing only to Aris and to Andrzej Brombosz, although he had the satisfaction of beating his fellow Pole first time out. However, Wednesfield were solid throughout, with Aris losing just the once, and all the rest riding well.

It was a similar story in the Combination match, as a stronger Wednesfield team took the spoils, 70-50. Ian Warren, Paul Bird and Craig Guest all raced unbeaten for the home team. A & T's only race success came when subs Jeff Radcliffe and Warren Mee teamed up for a 7-3 heat win in their only outing. Veteran Mike Hack top scored for the visitors.
