Astley & Tyldesley felt that they should have pulled off a win in the Combination Division match, but had to settle for a draw. Some controversy occurred when Stoke's Richard Harvey rode into the pits without finishing the race in heat 9, but he was still awarded a point by the referee. A & T led by six points after heat 4, but Stoke came back to lead by four points with two races to go. A & T took 6-4 heat wins in the last two heats to force a draw. Warren Mee raced unbeaten for A & T, with George Hughes winning two of his three races.
