Astley & Tyldesley hosted the Manchester League Senior Grand Prix Final under the Gin Pit floodlights on Wednesday. The track held up well despite torrential rain earlier in the day, and an exciting event ensued. Remi Burchardt lost to compatriot Damian Zareba in heat 2, but reeled off four wins after that. Zareba also won four races, but lost to new British Champion Terry Norman in heat 5. Norman set the early pace, winning his first three races, before taking second place behind Paul Dyson in heat 13 and Burchardt in heat 17, to finish in 3rd place overall. Dyson won four races after taking a heavy fall when clashing with Burchardt in heat 2. The title was decided with a run-off after both Zareba and Burchardt finished with 19 points. Zareba won the toss for start positions, chose the inside grid and led all the way to win the meeting. Manchester League Senior Grand Prix Final result.
