Astley & Tyldesley put in a great display to beat Heckmondwike in Tuesday's re-arranged Northern Alliance League match at Gin Pit. Rain throughout the match made the track much better to ride than in recent weeks, and some great racing took place in a very competitive and sporting match. Tomasz Szwajorek raced unbeaten, with excellent scores from Tomasz Wlodarczyk and Darek Kurkowski. The most pleasing aspect of A & T's win was the excellent, disciplined back-up from Mark Taylor, Mike Hack and Roy Heslop, who between them ran just one last place in 14 starts. For the visitors, Darren Kent and James Carter provided the usual spearhead, with new Polish recruit Jacek Szlachetcha, from Unia Leszno, impressing.
