Sun 30th July | Northern Fours - Round 5 | Heckmondwike | |
Astley & Tyldesley took to the track at Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire for the 5th Round of the Northern Fours League series on Sunday. A & T started as league leaders, but were beaten by both their two closest challengers, Stoke and Sheffield, on the day. A & T had three riders returning after injury lay-offs - Chris Finnigan, Trevor Hulton and Tomasz Szwajorek - and their rustiness was clearly evident with all three well below par. Even the normally reliable Tomasz Wlodarczyk ran an uncharacteristic last place in the first race before reeling off three wins. With three rounds remaining, the series looks set for an exciting climax, with A & T, Sheffield and Stoke all very much in contention for the title.
