Sun 15th July Astley & Tyldesley v Norwich Astley & Tyldesley

Astley & Tyldesley entertained Norwich in a Premier League clash at Gin Pit on Sunday. Rain fell throughout the match, but the track held up well and a hard fought match took place. Once again, A & T had more riders missing than turned up, and this proved costly as Norwich raced to an emphatic 100-71 win. Best for A & T were Tomasz Wlodarczyk and Remi Burchardt, who both won three races each. A & T certainly didn't get the rub of the green with several incidents going against them, with Darek Kurkowski (pictured) having two exclusions and Craig Newsome taking two heavy falls. However, a committed Norwich team fully deserved their win, with Josh Brooke racing unbeaten from reserve. They had the greater strength in depth and this defeat keeps A & T rooted at the bottom of the table.

Premier League match result:

Astley & Tyldesley 71 Norwich 100

A & T: Tomasz Wlodarczyk 17 (1), Remi Burchardt 15, Darek Kurkowski 9, Craig Newsome 9, Ewan Tulloch 7, Joe Allen 5, George Hughes 5, Mike Hack 4.

Norwich also easily won the Combination match 85-56, after A & T conceded 15 penalty points for fielding an ineligible rider. Darek Kurkowski raced unbeaten, whilst Mike Hack lost only to George Solomon in heat 11. Again, Norwich were much the more solid team and they took a bonus point for fielding a separate team.
