We had several riders who featured prominently in the European Club
Championships at Leicester last weekend. Unfortunately, they were racing
for other clubs, as none were our 1st claim British born riders, as the
regulations stipulate that we could only use our 1st claim British born
riders. Torun won an exciting final, with Przemek Binkowski beating the
World Champion, Marcin Szymanski, in a run-off for 1st place, after Torun
and Leszno both tied with 43 points. Przemek and Darek Kurkowski both
scored 12 points for Torun, with Dariusz Pilas scoring 5 for Leszno.
Bydgoszcz finished just 1 point behind, in 3rd place on 42 points, with
Remi Burchardt scoring 9 points for them. Wednesfield were the only
British team to reach the final, finishing 4th on 30 points. Mike Hack was
one of the tournament referees. For full reports, scores and photos of a
great weekend's racing, go to British Cycling's website, Spokesman On-line
website and the Torun club website. All three sites have links from the A
& T website.
