A depleted Astley & Tyldesley side was thrashed by Hull in Sunday's Northern League match at the Hessle Raceway. For the second season running, despite having 35 riders in the club, only six A & T riders bothered to turn up for the league match at Hull. Remi Burchardt and Darek Kurkowski both won races for A & T, but a solid Hull team won ten of the eighteen races by the maximum scoreline to run out 108-64 winners.

It was a similar story in the Combination (2nd team) match, as Hull easily took the points with a 91-56 win. On a hot sunny day, the six A & T riders had to compete in both matches, to save the club a fine and deducted points which would otherwise have been incurred, due to their absent colleagues.
