Astley & Tyldesley's juniors competed in the British Indoor
Championships at Cheslyn Hay Leisure Centre, Walsall on Saturday. Apart
from Joel Partington, this was each riders' debut in indoor competition
and first year riders Ben Dickenson and Luke Jamson can feel well
pleased with their determined efforts and results at this discipline. In
the Junior Team Semi-Final, Wednesfield and Sandwell easily qualified
for the final, whilst A & T had a close tussle with Norfolk side
Hethersett for 3rd place. A fighting 2nd place by Jamson and then a
great win by Dickenson saw A & T lead Hethersett going into the last
race, but Joe Allen trailed in last to let in Hethersett to pip A & T by
1 point.

Wednesfield went on to win the final, with Sandwell runners-up.
Luke Jamson qualified for the U-16 Individual Final by winning his first
qualifying race. Despite plenty of effort, he found the final tough
going, finishing with 5 points, but can feel well pleased at reaching
the final in his first season. Joel Partington fell whilst leading his
last qualifying race in the U-13 competition and that was enough to
eliminate him at the qualification stage.
