Astley & Tyldesley were bolstered by the inclusion of Remi Burchardt and
Dariusz Pilas for the trip to Bury for Sunday's Northern League match.
The two Poles made their first appearance in A & T colours for three
months and both raced to impressive 20 points maximum scores. After a
very tight first half, Bury held a one point interval lead. The home
side took two 7-3 heat wins in the second half and with most of the
other races shared, this proved decisive, as they ran out 93-86 winners.
Ben Dickenson won his last race to finish on 14 points, but the absence
of one more high scoring rider proved costly for A & T. Bury had six
solid scoring riders and made full use of John Whiting at reserve, with
the 61 year old dropping his only point to Dickenson in his last race.
