Astley & Tyldesley were well represented at Round 5 of the Manchester
League Grand Prix series at Bury on Wednesday evening, with A & T riders
in each category.
A & T started the night as clear leaders of the Division 1 (senior)
league, but took a blow when Mike Hack pulled out after 1 ride, due to
suffering a recurrence of a pulled calf muscle, thereby conceding a
guaranteed 5 points. This proved decisive as Sheffield took the victory
on the night, with Stockport pipping A & T by 3 points for 2nd place.
Ben Dickenson took a race win, as the four fit A & T riders all fought
gamely throughout. Sheffield's win puts them 1 point clear, with one
round to go.

A & T started the night as joint leaders with Stockport of the Division
2 (junior) league. Stockport scored 1 point more than A & T on the
night, to move 1 point clear with one round remaining. The result,
however, could have been different had the Stockport referee excluded
Stockport's Dylan Radcliffe for clearly moving at the start in heat 4 of
the U-16 match, instead of calling all riders back for a re-run, which
he duly won. Adam Watson once again raced unbeaten in the U-10s
category, with Stefan Whitelegg losing twice only to Adam and Colin Farn
scoring well. Joel Partington lost only to Stockport's Joe Pickford in
the U-13 category.
