Stockport hosted the third and last of the Manchester League’s
Individual Finals, in its 60th anniversary season. 9 riders lined up to
contest the Senior Individual final on a cool, damp evening.
Stockport’s Terry Norman made the most of a favourable draw, that saw
him drawn inside his main rivals, to take the trophy with a 16 points
maximum score, leading every time by the first bend. Sheffield’s Polish
duo of Piotr Jamroszczyk and Dariusz Pilas both rode well throughout, to
complete the top three placings. This trio dominated the meeting, with
the rapidly improving youngsters again benefiting from racing in this
senior competition.
The Manchester League Senior Individual Championship has been staged
every year since 1955, when Derek Tegg was the first winner. Derek
Garnett, a winner on several occasions, presented the trophies on the
night.
As well as this event, Dylan Radcliffe received his trophy for winning
the Senior Individual Grand Prix series, with the Stockport team
presented with their trophies for winning the League Division 1 title.
