Astley & Tyldesley entertained Edinburgh in a junior challenge match at
Gin Pit on Sunday. A really good match took place, as Edinburgh took the
lead three times before A & T again drew level after heat 9. The home
side took the lead for the first time after heat 1, with two successive
7-3 heat wins, after hard riding by first Luke Jamson and then Adam
Phillips saw them bring their partners through. A & T sealed the match
with a 6-4 in heat 13 and a 7-3 in heat 14. Credit to both teams who
each fielded eight junior riders, who gave it their all in a very hard
fought, sporting, competitive match.
Adam Phillips raced unbeaten for A & T, whilst Luke Jamson dropped his
only point in the last race to Michael Lee. First year riders Bethan
Braithwaite and Reece Pollitt continue to improve, whilst Stefan
Whitelegg battled on after a fall on the back straight. The three Lee
brothers all impressed for Edinburgh, along with Paul Kelly, all of whom
won races. Douglas Morgan recovered well after taking a heavy fall third
time out.
