There was an excellent night of racing on Thursday evening at Round 5 of
the Astley & Tyldesley Go-Ride Grand Prix series. With 3 adult riders
and 5 juniors turning up, riders were split into team A and B and rode a
good team match. Team A of Reece, Roy, Dan Burns and Matt Snell beat
Team B of Rebecca, Max, Ron and Dan Makin. Lots of good racing and fast
laps.
With the juniors wanting more racing, new teams were formed for a second
match (practice, not official). This match saw Dale Pollitt and Steve
Burns making their tentative but positive debuts at Cycle Speedway and
brought up ideas of a Lads and Dads race. Both really improved in their
rides. Team A Max, Reece, Dale, Ron and Steve Burns took on Team B, Roy,
Dan Burns, Matt Snell, Dan Makin. Lots of good fun racing again which
finished in a draw! There was an unofficial ride-off organised by the
juniors... who knows who won!? But lots of good racing, training and fun
was had by all.
Thanks to Chris Snell for being flag marshal and starter throughout the
whole evening.
Overall points for the Go-ride event on the night:
1st - Reece Pollitt - 25 points.
2nd - Dan Burns - 20.
3rd - Max Evans - 18.
4th - Matt Snell - 16.
5th - Dan Makin - 14.
