Astley & Tyldesley riders have enjoyed a terrific weekend of racing,
recording some excellent results.
Racing in the 4th North Regional Round of the British Youth & Junior
League at a rain soaked Bury, A & T took 2nd place in the U-12 section,
to qualify for the National series, as a team, for the first time since
regional qualification was introduced in 1999. A & T fielded three
debutants in the U-8 match and all three girls recorded a race win each,
as Jasmin Waterworth and Mia Wibberley went on to take 3rd and 4th
places in the Grand Prix 'A' Final, with Manisha Waterworth winning the
'B' Final. Max Evans continued his excellent form to win the U-10s Grand
Prix 'A' Final, holding off a strong challenge from 2nd place Callum
Maguire. Matt Snell won the 'B' Final, ahead of Tom Whitwam. Dan Burns
belied his inexperience to take 4th place in the U-12 'A' Final, with
Reece Pollitt taking a great win in the U-14 'A' Final.

The junior results so far this year have been excellent and
congratulations go to everyone for the hard work and ability that they
have put in. We now look forward to enjoying being in the national
series of the British Youth & Junior League and seeing if we can improve
on our 3rd and 4th places in 1997 and 1998 respectively, when the league
was run as one national league over the season.
