The match was followed by the 6th and final round
of the Astley & Tyldesley Go-Ride Grand Prix series. This was contested
by 16 riders, including many of the recent newcomers to the weekly
Tuesday night sessions at Gin Pit. The four more experienced riders (Max
Evans, Daniel Burns, Matthew Snell, Dan Smith-Makin) were handicapped,
with the remainder starting off the gate.
Jessica Burgess raced to a 20 points maximum score in her first Go-Ride
event and recorded the fastest time of the match, 42.01 seconds.
Runner-up was Rhys Burgess (no relation), who dropped his only point to
Jessica in heat 2. In a run-off for 3rd place, Emily Burgess, younger
sister of Jessica, held off the challenge of Matt Snell, riding off a
half lap handicap, to make it a Burgess 1-2-3!
