Bury hosted the 6th and final round of the Manchester League Grand Prix
series on Wednesday. The home club didn't erect their temporary
floodlights and as a result the meeting had to be abandoned due to
failing light. However, the results of the completed races stand.
Astley & Tyldesley's youngsters put in a great performance to take the
win on the night and end the Division 2 (junior) League series as clear
winners, ahead of Stockport, with Bury third. Max Evans raced unbeaten
for the 6th successive match in the U-10s category, with Callum Maguire
and Matt Snell turning in top performances. Dan Smith-Makin, John White
and debutant Reece Burgess all scored valuable points on the night to
set A & T on their way. The U-13s were next up and both Daniel Burns and
Ciaran Collins turned in steady performances to increase A & T's score
on the night.
The U-16s, U-19s and Seniors were run concurrently and it was during
these races that the match was abandoned. Reece Pollitt put in two good
second places in his two races in the U-16s match.
Many congratulations go to the A & T youngsters on winning the
Manchester League Division 2 series for the first time since 2009 and to
Max Evans on winning the U-10 Grand Prix series, winning every race in
the series. The awards will be presented at the Manchester League
Individual Finals at Stockport, this Sunday.

Nine heats of the Division 1 (senior) League match were held, as
Stockport edged out Bury by five points to win on the night, having
already won the League a round earlier. Ron Makin was A & T's lone rider
and he scored 4 points.
