Astley & Tyldesley made the long trip to Edinburgh to compete in the
Northern K.O. Cup competition on Sunday. A&T were drawn in the 1st
semi-final and made a good start, holding 2nd place at the end of the
1st round of races. The team suffered a blow when Mark Graham fell and
was excluded in heat 5, but a great win by Paul Graham in heat 7 put A&T
back on track. By the half way stage Heckmondwike had drawn level with
A&T for 2nd place, with Bury in front and Hull 4th. It was nip and tuck
all the way through the 2nd half of the match, but Heckmondwike riders
took vital wins in the last two races to pip A&T by 1 point and secure
the 2nd qualifying place for the final. Disappointment for A&T, but the
team of veteran riders can feel well pleased with their efforts.
