Astley & Tyldesley hosted Round 2 of the Northern Fours League and
Junior League series at a cold and wet Gin Pit.
Team Green made a great start in the Fours League match, scoring 12
points in the first round of races to take 2nd place. A mid match dip,
with two last places saw A&T drop to 4th place after the third round of
races, but A&T finished strongly to take 3rd place on the day. Paul
Graham was in good form for Team Green, winning three of his five races,
with Danny Hughes taking two race wins. Mark Graham, Ron Makin and
George Hughes all chipped in with valuable points.
Stockport ran out convincing winners, with Jack Lush and Ben Higham both
racing unbeaten. Bury took 2nd place on the day, with their reserve
Steve Whitaker unbeaten in his four races. The match was marred by a bad
crash on the pits bend in heat 23, which saw racing held up for 45
minutes, while Goshen's Will Owens received first aid treatment and was
subsequently taken to hospital in an ambulance, suffering back injuries.
Fortunately, he was released from hospital and allowed home the same
evening.

Astley & Tyldesley riders turned out in force and ran out convincing
winners in the Junior League match, to make it two wins out of two in
this six round series. The key to the win was solid scores throughout
the team in all categories, with every rider's points counting to their
team's totals in this competition.
Matthew Snell won two races in the U-10 event, with strong support from
Emily Burgess and Ben Dickinson. Ciaran Collins and Max Evans were in
the points in the U-13 event, while Joel Partington was A&T's lone
entrant in the U-16 event, scoring a hard earned 13 points. The rain
came down hard and the track was really wet for the final event, the
U-19 and Combination categories. George Hughes dropped just one point in
the Combination category, with Reece Pollitt, Ron Makin and Roy Heslop
all scoring well.
