Round 5 of the Manchester League Grand Prix series was held at Stockport
on Wednesday evening. There was plenty of good racing on a fast grippy
track, with the 36 heats completed just before dusk fell.
Stockport edged out Bury to win the Division 2 (juniors) match, with
Astley & Tyldesley third. Ben Dickinson enjoyed his best match to date
in the u-10s event, with two hard fought wins on his way to top scoring
for the team with 13 points. An unwell Max Evans gave it his best shot,
but was down on his usual points score. Reece Pollitt won three races to
top score in the u-16s match, trailing in last in his other after
narrowly failing to get round the field from grid 4. Bury's Tom Whitwam
and James Elston both rode unbeaten in the u-10s and u-13s categories
respectively, whilst Stockport's Jake Read top scored in the u-19s
event.

Stockport maintained their winning ways with a convincing win in the
Division 1 (seniors) match. Home rider Ben Higham raced to four wins to
go through the card unbeaten. Reece Pollitt made his debut in a
Manchester League senior event and he rode to a great win first time
out, beating former British Champion Terry Norman and Jack Lush. He beat
Norman again second time out, on his way to an impressive score of 11
points. Roy Heslop battled hard and finished with a creditable 7 points
tally.
