Sun 22nd Sept Northern Junior and Northern Fours League Round 6 Bury


Astley & Tyldesley fielded a mix of veterans and juniors in their line-up for the 6th and final round of the Northern Fours League at Bury on Sunday. Reece Pollitt led the scoring for A&T, winning three of his five races. A&T riders worked hard for their points, to finish in 5th place out of 6 teams on the day. Stockport made it a clean sweep, by winning all six rounds of the series to take the title. A&T finished the series in 4th place.

Final Northern Fours League positions

The Final round of the Junior League series, saw Astley & Tyldesley and Bury start as joint leaders on match points. A&T's Ben Dickinson rode well to score 13 points in the u-10s match, ably backed up by Joe Quarmby and Emily Burgess with 11 apiece. A&T suffered a blow in the u-13s match, when Max Evans had to withdraw injured from the meeting, after being put into the fence in his second ride - this after he had won his opening race. Ciaran Collins won two races in this match, to score 14. Reece Pollitt won his opening three races to score 15 points in the u-16s category. Reece also secured overall victory in the u-16 Grand Prix Individual series. Mark Graham scored a hard earned 13 points in the Combination match, ably backed up by Roy Heslop on 12.

Despite a valiant attempt by all the A&T riders, it was Bury who took the win on the day, to win the Northern Junior League series by a single match point.
