It was a depleted Astley & Tyldesley 1st team which
took to the track for Sunday's Northern League Division 1 match at Bury.
Missing a host of riders for various reasons, A&T had coaches Will Evans
and Mike Hack stepping in to the side. The team of veteran riders
battled hard but struggled on a heavy track against a fitter and much
younger home team, going down to a whitewash 105-45 defeat. Captain for
the day, Mark Graham, top scored against the team he rode for in the
1980s.

Fielding a similar team for the Division 2 match, A&T made a better
start, before fading in the 2nd half as tired legs kicked in on a cold
and windy afternoon. Mark Graham again top scored, with Mike Hack taking
second places in each of his three rides. Credit to all six veterans on
completing two matches in testing conditions.

A&T enjoyed success in the Division 3 match, exclusively for u-12
riders. A&T started the match at the top of the league table, with Bury
in 2nd place and a comfortable 67-44 win for A&T saw them extend their
lead at the top of the table. Max Evans top scored for A&T, dropping
just one point, followed by back from injury Daniel Burns and valuable
points scored by the remaining riders.
