Astley & Tyldesley's junior riders were out in force at Stockport for Round 3 of the Northern Fours & Junior League series on Sunday. On a fast, but dry and slippery track, in the u-10s match, Emily Burgess, Joe Quarmby, Ben Dickinson and John White all scored heavily, with young Max Quarmby taking three hard earned third places. Max Evans raced unbeaten in the u-13s category, with Matt Snell scoring a useful 10 points. Adam Phillips top scored in the u-16s event, with 14 points, 1 ahead of Reece Pollitt. A&T looked to have secured a win in the Northern Junior League match, but were undone by the adjusting of points for the four Bury riders who raced in the combined u-19s and Division 2 match, consisting of 8 riders. The riders scored a combined total of 32 points on the track, but were credited with 52 points after adjustments. With A&T not having any riders in the last two categories, Bury ended up beating A&T by 15 points. A&T remain in 2nd place in the table. Astley & Tyldesley fielded a team of juniors for the Northern Fours League match. The youngsters all rode brilliantly, pushing an experienced Bury Comets team all the way, before losing out by a single point for 2nd place in the match. Stockport were in control all match to take the win, as A&T pulled clear of Heckmondwike, before chasing Bury Comets for 2nd place. Adam Phillips and Reece Pollitt won five races between them, with A&T riders beating opponents in every race bar heat 3, in a really strong team performance. This performance moved A&T off the bottom of the table and into 4th place.
