Astley & Tyldesley's hopes of winning this year's Northern League Division 1 title ended with a shock 94-80 defeat at bottom of the table Hull on Sunday. A&T had a host of riders missing for a variety of reasons. Despite an excellent unbeaten performance from former European Champion Damian Zareba and strong back up from Radek Handle, Reece Pollitt and Paul Graham, 6 man A&T were beaten. Northern League Division 1 match result: Hull 94 Astley & Tyldesley 80 Hull: Andy Angell 18 (1), David Cooper 14 (1), Josh Bellis 14 (1), Lewis Aylmer 12, Richie Pawson 11 (2), Nathan Everett 11 (1), Chris Cooke 8 (1), Dave Lister 6 (2). A&T: Damian Zareba 19 (1), Radek Handke 18, Reece Pollitt 16, Paul Graham 12 (2), Mark Grantham 8, Ciaran Collins 7. It was a similar story in the Division 2 match, as an understrength A&T lost 91-74, despite excellent performances from Mark Grantham, Ciaran Collins and John White. Special credit goes to 2nd team captain Collins, who turned out with a broken hand. A&T conceded 20 penalty points after fielding an ineligible rider, Reece Pollitt. David Cooper raced unbeaten for Hull. Northern League Division 2 match result: Hull 91 Astley & Tyldesley 74 Hull: David Cooper 20, Jack Lister 12, Laura Steward 9 (2), Katie Greaves 9 (1), Charlie Wade 8, Dave Lister 6 (1), Eddie Lister 5, Libby Steward 2. A&T: Mark Grantham 19, Reece Pollitt 17 (2), John White 17, Ciaran Collins 15 (4), Lucy Grantham 6. In the Division 3 match, A&T lost their first match of the season, as they were hammered 83-22, with good performances from John White and Lucy Grantham. Northern League Division 3 match result: Hull 83 Astley & Tyldesley 22 Hull: Izzy O'Neill 14, Charlie Wade 14, Eddie Lister 13, Jack Lister 12, Noah Lyon 11, Laura Steward 10, Lilly O'Neill 9.
