Sat 12th August National Youth & Junior League Exeter

In a very windy dull Exeter, six A&T riders were participating in the 3rd national round of the Little League and BYJL competition on Saturday.

In the u8s our two six year olds were in action as part of the 16 rider field. Aiden Green had a tough draw and wasn't his normal speed demon however he scored a solid ten points and secured a B final place. Frank White was on fire winning his first and third heats and scoring 13 points. A count back with two other riders meant that he took a B Final place. In the B Final our duo, Aiden on gate 1 and Frank on gate 4, came 2nd and 4th respectively.

Next up was Duncan Whalley in a very competitive u10s field of 23 riders. Two second places and two thirds secured a C Final place. The outcome was a fourth place from the fourth grid.

The first of BYJL rounds had 21 riders competing. The u12s was a mixture of local and national talent. Charlie Burgess rode solidly despite a couple of slips on a very skiddy track. Nine points leading to a D Final - a great 2nd place from grid 4. John White was formidable in his heats losing just to Connor Steel on the line from the outside grid - both riders ended on 15 points. Joe Hurran, Logan Perkins and Rosie Tidball contested a tough heat which resulted in Rosie securing an unbeaten 16 points, with Joe pipping Logan on the line and taking the final A final place. Logan was (harshly) excluded on the gate in his Final and Connor experienced the same fate in the A Final. John sandwiched between Rosie (on grid 1) and Joe made an unbelievably great start and took the top spot with Rosie and Joe battling for 2nd...Joe taking second. John now leads Joe by 8 GP points.

The sunshine blew in at times for the 11 girls in their match run in tandem with the u18 boys. Emily Burgess rode with confidence and secured two wins and two second places on her way to the A Final. Off gate 2, between Maddie Saunders (on 1) and Macie Schmidt, she struggled to get ahead of Liz Rigley and came 4th.
