Tue 25th April Go-Ride Grand Prix Round 1 Astley & Tyldesley

Astley & Tyldesley staged Round 1 of this year's A&T Go-Ride Grand Prix series. On a cold evening, 20 enthusiastic youngsters, ranging from 3 to 13 years old, competed in a 20 heats event, run on a handicap basis. 6 years old Frank White won all his races, to take 1st place, one point ahead of another 6 year old, Aiden Green, who lost only to Frank first time out.

There was a tie for 3rd place, with newcomer Tom Morrissey finishing level on 13 points with Sabrina Evans. A great start to the series, with the youngsters presented with a range of certificates, wrist bands and medals at the end of the racing.

Astley & Tyldesley were one of two Northern representatives in the first national round of the British Youth & Junior League series at Kesgrave, Suffolk on Saturday. The event attracted a large turnout and the A&T riders performed really well in a strong field. In the u-8s event, Aiden Green finished in 6th place and Frank White 10th. John White finished in 4th place in the u-12s event, with Matt Snell 13th in the u-14s match. Just turned 13 years old, Emily Burgess competed in the 12-17 year old Girls event and did really well to finish in 4th place.
