Astley & Tyldesley were narrowly beaten in two challenge matches at Hull on Sunday. In the 1st team match, Reece Pollitt rode to an excellent 24 points maximum score for A&T, with strong support from Pierce Bacon and Steve Harris. However, it was a more solid scoring Hull team, who included Edinburgh's Lewis Foxley as a guest, who took the match win, 94-86. The scores were close up to heat 9, before the home side took the only 7-3 heat win of the match, by Matt Eglan/ David Cooper over Duncan Whalley/ Oscar Belt, to open up an eight points lead. A&T provided 13 of the 18 race winners, but also 16 of the 18 last places. Nathan Everett top scored for Hull, losing once to Bacon and three times to Pollitt. 1st team Challenge match: Hull 94 Astley & Tyldesley 86 Hull: Nathan Everett 19 (1), Lewis Foxley 17 (1), Matt Eglan 15 (2), Jack Lister 15 (1), David Cooper 14 (2), Ryan Tomkinson 12 (4), Barry Ashton 2 (1). A&T: Reece Pollitt 24, Pierce Bacon 21 Steve Harris 19, Duncan Whalley 10, Owen Simcock 5, Oscar Belt 5, Harriet Belt 2. In the 3rd team challenge match, Duncan Whalley and Oscar Belt both rode to 16 points maximum scores for A&T.
