On a swelteringly hot, sunny day, Astley & Tyldesley welcomed cycle speedway riders from all over the country, for Round 3 of the Women's Battle of Britain and Grand Prix series. In the Battle of Britain (team) match, the Midlands quickly asserted their authority, winning four of their first five heats. They were content to sit on this lead for the remainder of the match, running out winners on 66 points. Joint second were the South East & Eastern team and the South and South Wales team, who both finished on 60 points. The North & Scotland team brought up the rear, on 53 points. Lizzie Rigley, for the Midlands, dropped just one point from her six rides, to the South & South Wales' Nataleigh Goulden, in heat 20. For the South East & Eastern team, Lily Parr won five of her six races, beaten only by the Midlands pair of Rigley and Bekah Humphries in heat 5.
