The midweek Manchester League Grand Prix series concluded at Astley & Tyldesley, on a warm and dry Wednesday evening. Eleven riders competed in the Division 1 match. Bury's Harry Radford, fresh from representing Gt. Britain in the European u-23 Track Championships at Cottbus, Germany, made his first series appearance of the season. Harry showed that he had lost none of his cycle speedway skills by racing to a 16 points maximum score and recording the fastest time of the night, 44.47 seconds, in heat 3. Teammate Kris Ramsden was unbeaten until he came up against Harry in the final race of the night, heat 12. Bury retained the Division 1 title, by winning all six matches in this year's series. Stockport's Terry Norman clinched victory in both the Senior and Veterans Grand Prix series, whilst Sheffield's Laura Watson won the Women's Grand Prix series. The Division 2 (Youth & Junior) match was run on a mini-ladder format, again contested by seven riders. Bury's Owen Simcock won the 'A' final race, finishing ahead of A&T's Levi Edwards, with Bobby Dunphy 3rd and Oscar Belt 4th. Defending Division 2 Champions, Astley & Tyldesley, made it six wins in the series, to retain their title. The three Grand Prix series winners were: Alex Lawless (u-10); Oscar Belt (u-13); Owen Simcock (u-19). There were insufficient entries at u-16 level.
