Stockport staged the final round, Round 6, of the Manchester League series at St. Thomas' Recreation Ground on Wednesday evening. On a warm, sunny evening, there was a really disappointing turnout of just five riders. Bury's Owen Simcock suffered a machine failure and fall in the warm up. A subsequent machine failure in heat 1 led to his withdrawal from the meeting. This left just two A&T riders to complete the series as winners of their age categories. A&T retained the Division 2 title after winning every round of the series. Manchester League Division 2 result: Astley & Tyldesley 32 Bury 0. U-13: Elijah Rechembei (A&T) 12 (16). U-16: Oscar Belt (A&T) 16; (16). U-19: Owen Simcock (Bury) 0 (0). Owen Simcock's withdrawal meant that just four riders contested the Division 1 match. Bury's Mike Baldock raced unbeaten on the night, as Bury took the team win, to retain their Division 1 title. In the Women's series, the leader, Emily Burgess, started the evening with a 4 points lead, having beaten Laura Watson each time in the previous rounds. With just four riders competing on Wednesday, the riders met each other four times, and Laura took full advantage of Emily's collar bone injury to wipe out the four points difference and level the scores. The unfortunate Emily withdrew from a run-off, allowing Laura to take the Women's GP series win. Manchester League Division 1 result: Bury 16 Astley & Tyldesley 13 Sheffield 11.
