Autumn Racing

Yes, although its only a few weeks since our highlight of the year, the World Championships, amazingly we are into the last month of the season. Normally, quite a few events are staged in October, but not so this year. However, this will enable us to fit in with British Cycling's coaching advice and allow riders to have a longer Preparation Training phase during the winter,.

Training

The sessions will continue to take place each Tuesday. We are pleased to report that recent numbers have warranted having two groups, with the juniors on between 7 and 8 pm, followed by the seniors between 8 and 9 pm. Our final session on the track at Gin Pit will be on Tuesday 30th September.

Racing Results

We are currently in 2nd place in the Northern Junior League, 3.5 points behind Sheffield, with one round remaining. At senior level we have enjoyed a run of good results, in the Northern League, Northern Fours League and Manchester Senior Grand Prix. Congratulations go to Mike Hack on winning the Northern Senior Combination Grand Prix series. Also to Becky Heslop on winning both the Manchester League U-13 Individual title and the U-13 Grand Prix series. Dylan Radcliffe and John Nuttall took 3rd and 4th places respectively in the Manchester League U-13 Grand Prix series. Warren Mee took 2nd place in both the Manchester League U-16 Individual Championship and the U-16 Grand Prix series. Rob Longworth took 3rd place in the Manchester League U-16 Individual Championship.

World Championships

Many thanks to everybody who helped out and supported the Championships, to make them such a big success. We have had nothing but praise from everybody about our promotion of the Championships. As well as enhancing the Club's reputation, the Championships also boosted our finances, and as always, this will be ploughed back into further improving our facilities and equipment. We shall be promoting the 2004 British Veterans Championships.

Forthcoming Individuals

We have eight riders who have qualified for the Manchester League Senior Grand Prix Final at Gin Pit on Thursday 4th September. They are: Przemek Binkowski, Mike Hack, Roy Heslop, Pawel Kozlowski, Steve Mills, Garry Pearce, Jeff Radcliffe, Chris Smith. On Tuesday, 30th September, we shall be staging our Club Individual Championships, open to all our members, which once again will see numbers bolstered with the inclusion of riders from British Cycling's Talent Team.

Indoor Championships

Nothing definite has been arranged as yet, but officials are hoping to stage British Individual and Team Championships during November.
