Astley & Tyldesley's young cycle speedway starlet, Becky Heslop, is celebrating this week, following her selection to race for the Gt. Britain junior test team in the U.S.A. at Easter. 13 years old Fred Longworth High School pupil Becky has won a string of honours at cycle speedway, and makes her international debut at Prescott Valley, Arizona. She is part of a 13 rider Gt. Britain squad that will compete in test matches at U-13 and U-16 levels against the U.S.A. for the first time. The current British No.2 at U-13 level, Becky is the first Astley & Tyldesley racer to be selected for international honours since Damien Hack raced for England Juniors in Scotland in May 1999.

Two more riders with Astley & Tyldesley links are also celebrating international selection. Secondary registration riders Garry Pearce and Joe Twiss, both Stoke based, have been picked to race for Gt. Britain at senior and junior level respectively, in Australia in 2005.

Astley & Tyldesley have now completed their pre-season training programme, and the CTA Direct sponsored squad are raring to go in the first official match of the season, when they compete in the opening round of the Northern Fours League and Northern Junior League series at Bury on Sunday (28th March).
