Astley & Tyldesley Cycle Speedway Club were formally presented with their Sport England Clubmark accreditation at a special presentation and buffet at Gin Pit on Tuesday evening. A & T Club Chairman Mike Hack received two framed awards on behalf of the club, from Eddie Allen of British Cycling. Several official guests were present: the Mayor and Mayoress of Wigan, Councillor John Hilton and Mrs. Hilton; Councillor Brian Wilson; Clint Godfrey from Sport England; Eddie Allen, Alex Scoular, Margaret Nolan, Brian Barton and Barney Storey from British Cycling. After the presentation, speeches and buffet, the guests made their way to the track to observe A & T club members training under the Gin Pit floodlights.

A & T are the first cycle speedway club in the U.K. and only the 2nd cycling club in the U.K. to obtain the Sport England Clubmark accreditation, for meeting their standards in providing a quality sports club.

The club hosts training sessions every Tuesday, starting at 7 pm, with newcomers always welcome for a free trial.
