Astley & Tyldesley Cycle Speedway Club are delighted to announce the signing
of the reigning European Junior Champion, Remi Burchardt, from Slesin in Poland.
19 years old Burchardt (pictured leading a race in last year's European Junior
Team Cup) won the title at Bydgoszcz, Poland last July, and is due to arrive in
England next week. His signing comes in the wake of A & T's Tomasz
Wlodarczyk not confirming his return this season. With A & T having moved up
from the Northern League to the more competitive Midlands / North League, it was
imperative that Wlodarczyk was adequately replaced. Burchardt was ranked no. 3
in the official Polish rankings for 2004 and he should form a great spearhead
with reigning European Champion Damian Zareba for A & T in 2005. Zareba was
ranked no. 2 in the official Polish rankings for 2004.
