Sandwell take U16 Team Championship Trophy


Sandwell emerged as champions in the the U-16 British Team Championships at Gin Pit on Saturday. A great day's racing took place in the presence of the Mayor and Mayoress of Wigan, Councillors Brian and Barbara Jarvis.

Ipswich, Leicester, Hethersett, Sandwell, Newport and Bury were the six teams that progressed from the two semi-final rounds, after beating off the opposition from Sheffield, Wednesfield and event hosts Astley & Tyldesley.

U-16 British Team Championship results:

1st Semi-Final: Ipswich 55 Leicester 41 Hethersett 41 Sheffield 'A' 38 Sheffield 'B' 22.

2nd Semi-Final: Sandwell 49 Newport 43 Bury 40 Wednesfield 39 Astley & Tyldesley 28.

Final: Sandwell 66 Ipswich 55 Newport 51 Leicester 50 Bury 45 Hethersett 32.
