Astley & Tyldesley's two Polish stars were in action in the Welsh Open Championship at the official opening of the new track at the Newport International Sports Village, on Saturday. European Champion Damian Zareba was in tremendous form to win the title, scoring a 20 points maximum in a top class field, on a big track that cut up quite badly in places. He beat his closest rivals British Champion Lee Aris and England International Shaun Woodhouse in his opening two races, making great starts from the less favourable outside starting positions. Aris finished runner-up with 18 points, and Woodhouse third with 17. European Junior Champion Remi Burchardt finished in 8th place, after scoring 11 points. |
