With no less than seven first choice riders missing for one reason or
another, it was very much Astley & Tyldesley's 2nd team that took to the
track for the Northern Cycle Speedway League match against Tameside, at
Stockport on Sunday.
Tameside secured the win that was never in doubt, recording ten maximum 7-3
heat wins, with the efforts of Veterans Roy Heslop and Mike Hack, along with
young Becky Heslop ensuring that the other five races were drawn 5-5. Tameside
took the opportunity to give a full programme of races to their younger riders
in the match. The Eatons, White and Wylie were unbeaten for Tameside, with Hack
and R. Heslop each winning a race for the visitors.
