Astley & Tyldesley rounded off the 2004 outdoor cycle speedway season by
hosting the final round of the Northern Fours & Junior League series at Gin
Pit. Tameside and Bury started off the day as joint leaders of the Fours League
with Astley & Tyldesley in 5th place. Tameside won the first Fours League
match to take the title, with Bury falling away in the second half of the match.
Astley & Tyldesley's 2nd place ahead of Sheffield in this match left the Gin
Pit outfit needing a 2nd place in the second match to secure 3rd place in the
final table. A & T turned in a sterling display to win the 2nd match, ahead
of Heckmondwike, Goshen and Hull, to leap over Sheffield and Heckmondwike and
finish 3rd in the final table, behind Tameside and Bury.
