Astley & Tyldesley came from behind to pull off a hard
fought win at Hull in today's Northern League match at the Hessle Raceway. Two
evenly matched teams contested a match that was full of incidents on a tight
slippery track.
Hull took an early lead with a 7-3 to Beharrell and Graham
over Heslop after C. Finnigan had fallen in heat 2. A 6-4 to Angel and Beharrell
over Radcliffe and Heslop put them 6 points ahead after heat 4. A & T hit
back with a 6-3 heat win to Wlodarczyk and C. Finnigan over Clark after Graham
was excluded at the start. A 7-3 heat win to Wlodarczyk and Hack in heat 7,
after Graham had fallen, was followed by an exclusion to C. Finnigan and the
scores were level at the interval. Hull regained the lead with a surprise 6-4 to
Graham and Ashton over the Finnigans in heat 10. Heat 12 proved crucial as
Spencer was excluded at the start, and Heslop / C. Finnigan took a 7-2 in the
re-run. Mee and Hack clinched the match for A & T with a hard fought 6-4
over Angel and Spencer in heat 14. In the last race, Wlodarczyk completed an
excellent 20 points maximum, whilst Clark was excluded after clashing with F.
Finnigan.
A & T put in their best team performance of the
season, digging deep to overturn a 6 points deficit into an 8 points win over a
very determined Hull team. Every rider chipped in with valuable contributions,
with Tomasz Wlodarczyk racing to an excellent 20 points maximum score, all from
outside starts.
