Astley & Tyldesley hosted the Open British Club Championships, sponsored by the Astley Rotary Club, at Gin Pit on Saturday. A makeshift A & T team were eliminated at the 1st semi-final stage, as Wednesfield (Wolverhampton) and Horspath (Oxford) progressed to the final. They were joined in the final by Leicester and Stockport, from a very lack lustre second semi-final. The final was a very close fought affair, before Horspath held on to pip Wednesfield to take the title. Final score was: Horspath 42 Wednesfield 41 Stockport 38 Leicester 37.
