Sun 21st October Hull v Astley & Tyldesley Hull

Astley & Tyldesley wrapped up their 2007 outdoor campaign with a trip to Hull for a Northern League fixture on Sunday. A & T were below strength and were convincingly beaten by a Hull team who clinched third place in the table. Former European Junior Champion Remi Burchardt was in great form for A & T, winning four of his five races, losing only to Adam Stephenson in heat 7, after pulling off a great pass on Andy Angell. Darek Kurkowski won his opening three races, including a terrific pass on Corey Graham, but snapped a pedal at the start in his fourth race. Hull had a much stronger all round team, with Stephenson racing unbeaten and ran out 110 - 63 winners - quite a turn round from last season when A & T won by 113 - 65. Stoke had already clinched the Northern League title, with A & T, runners-up last season, dropping to sixth place out of seven teams.

Hull also took the Combination (2nd team) match by 90 - 58, to give them runners-up spot in the league. A & T conceded 28 penalty points for fielding two ineligible riders, who both raced unbeaten. Hull's narrow opening day defeat at Astley cost them the title in this division. That was A & T's only victory all campaign, consigning them to bottom place. Bury won this division.
