Bury hosted the final Round 6 of the Manchester League Grand Prix series
at Goshen on Wednesday. After some uncertainty over the provision of
floodlights and the possibility of bringing the start time forward, the
Bury club erected their temporary floodlights for the evening and racing
commenced at 7.10. Disappointingly, just 4 A&T riders turned out,
compared with 22 who trained at Gin Pit the previous evening.
Matthew Snell took four second places in the u-10s match, with Alex
Semtyshin taking four third places in the u-13s event. There was a
tremendous showing by Reece Pollitt in the u-16s category. Reece
overcame his disappointment from his British Championship Semi-Final
elimination at the weekend, by scorching to a 16 points maximum score
and clinching overall victory in the u-16s Grand Prix series. Max Evans
started the evening with a 14 points lead in the u-13s series, but his
absence let in Bury's James Elston to score a 16 points maximum and win
the overall Grand Prix series by just 2 points.
