Astley & Tyldesley staged Round 3 of the A&T Go-Ride Grand Prix series
at Gin Pit on Tuesday evening. This event was a special one to coincide
with the Tour de France coming to these shores and the riders received
some TDF related awards from British Cycling. A heavy downpour of rain
made conditions wet and unpleasant, but a tremendous turnout of 27
riders, many competing for the first time, thoroughly enjoyed themselves
on the night.
The field was split into two matches, with the younger 11 riders going
into one event and the older 16 riders into another. Max Quarmby won the
Younger event with a maximum score, finishing ahead of Lucy Grantham and
Frank White. John White raced unbeaten to win the Older event, finishing
ahead of Ben Dickinson and Jamie Hill.
