On a beautiful sunny evening the club hosted the first of this years
Go-ride GPs.
Racing was very close with four different start positions being used to
give riders of all abilities a fighting chance.
Special mention should go first to some of the more experienced, yet
young riders, who took their handicaps so well and raced hard even with
such small chances of making up their margin. It was superb to see.
Racing was close and in the first two rounds of heats Luke Hill, Daisy
Osmand and Dylan Pauldon had maximums of 8 points form their two rides.
They were closely followed by the two youngsters of Lucy Grantham and
Max Quarmby with 7 points.
The next block of racing would prove decisive as the more experienced
riders took points off each other where as Lucy went on to pick up a 2nd
and a 1st. Max would go onto to win his two last races.
In a close match, three riders would score 13 points and go into a race
off for 3rd place. Luke Hill, Jamie Hill and Charlie Dickinson. In an
excellent race Charlie came away with a close win ahead of Jamie then
Luke. 2nd overall went to superb rides from Lucy Grantham, making
the most of her handicapped starts but racing with a real vigour.
1st overall went to the excellent Max Quarmby, a more determined rider
you will not meet. He made the most of his starts and raced superbly.
A great night of racing.
Thanks to Bill Phillips for refereeing, Max Evans as Pit marshal and Zoe
Quarmby for being flag marshal.
