Sun 2nd Dec 28th Annual
Presentation & Social Event
Astley & Tyldesley

Astley & Tyldesley club members enjoyed this afternoon's celebration of the club's achievements in 2018. 65 people attended the club's 28th annual Presentation & Social Event in the Concert Room at the Miners' Welfare Club.

Members enjoyed watching big screen footage of this year's racing at Gin Pit, followed by a splendid buffet, supplied by club volunteer Andrew Belt.

This was followed by the main event of the afternoon, the presentation of awards, made by British Cycling's North West Coaches and Clubs Manager, John Wych. 100 rider awards were presented, consisting of the North & Scotland League Division 1 winners' trophies, North & Scotland League Division 3 winners' medals, Northern Junior League winners' medals, Manchester League Division 2 winners' trophies, Northern Grand Prix winners trophies, Club Individual Championship trophies and the club's five special rider awards.

The Most Improved Rider of the Year award went to Fraser Brundrett. Ada Cox won the Rory Blackwell Cup for Best Newcomer. The North West Trophies Cup for Best Novice went to Chloe Warn. The J. Fisher & Sons Cup for Young Rider of the Year was won by Emily Burgess. The Alan Farrell Memorial Cup for Rider of the Year award was presented to Steve Harris.

The A&T club have steadily increased their number of volunteers each year, and this time saw a record number of 30 volunteers receiving gifts from the club, as recognition for their efforts. The presentations were concluded with new Club Treasurer Kelly Skitterall receiving the Ron Hack Memorial Cup, for Volunteer of the Year.

The afternoon continued into the evening, with many raffle prizes handed out, followed by singing and dancing, some of dubious quality, as the bar continued to do a good trade. It was a great way to celebrate the club's achievements, both on and off the track, in 2018.
