Astley & Tyldesley won Match D in the opening day of the European Club Championships, at a sunny East Park, Wolverhampton. Team Green were pushed all the way by Coventry and later on by Leicester, but emerged 6 points clear of runners-up Coventry. Reece Pollitt top scored for A&T, losing only to Leicester's Jimmy Wassall in heat 16. Steve Harris and Pawel Idziorek were in top form for A&T, with Max Evans and Kyle Holland weighing in with important contributions. BritishChampion Myke Grimes scored a maximum for Coventry, a fine achievement off outside grids each time.
