It was a great evening's racing at Gin Pit on Tuesday, as 27 youngsters enjoyed the 2nd Astley & Tyldesley Go-Ride Grand Prix Round. A&T junior coach Will Evans demonstrated his knowledge of the junior riders' abilities, by picking three teams, which were separated by just 3 points at the end of 18 heats! The new six riders per race x three teams formula was extended to accommodate nine riders on each team. Astley Hurricane, who finished last in the 1st Round, ran out winners on the night, led by Tom Morrissey, who dropped his only point to maximum man, John White, of Gin Pit Storm, in heat 13. Gin Pit finished level on points with Tyldesley Typhoon on the night. With one round to go, Typhoon lead the series on 4.5 match points, ahead of Hurricane on 4 points and Storm on 3.5 points. All the riders received a British Cycling Go-Ride certificate for their efforts last night. The final round is on Tuesday 10th July.
