Astley & Tyldesley had past and present riders competing in the test matches at Swietochlowice on Saturday evening. A torrential downpour flooded the track and surrounds, but sterling work by the home club and fire brigade saw the area cleared and racing started after a one hour delay. Despite this, the track held up much better than the previous day. In the Veterans match, Steve Harris scored a solid 15 points, plus 1 bonus, as Gt Britain beat Poland 95-81. Former A&T rider Tomasz Szwajorek scored 6 plus 1 bonus for Poland. After a close opening four races, Poland pulled away in the Senior match, to win convincingly, 98-79. Kamil Bielica scored 12 for Poland, with former A&T rider Piotr Jamroszczyk scoring 15. Another former A&T rider, Adam Watson, made his GB debut and he scored 4 points. |
